|
| The basic
format outlines all the elements needed for a complete first
darshan story. In alternative formats, we present some ideas to
help you incorporate these elements in your story in different ways and/or incorporate additional elements. Please
feel free to use the ideas that appeal to you most or that fit your
story. Listen to your heart and let Amma guide you...
|
- Consider starting your story with Amma's
teaching or any other well-known teaching if your story
illustrates that teaching. An example of a teaching may be -
the Guru comes when the disciple is ready.
|
- You may choose to begin your story
with something that defined your relationship with Amma.
And then proceed to write about your first darshan experience in a flashback
mode.
|
- Instead of stating month and
year of first meeting, you can simply say how many years ago you
met Amma. Or you could imply that by stating your age then and
now. If you met Amma, say in December, you may avoid
mentioning the month by writing about the fact that it was Christmas
at that time.
|
- Instead of including spiritual
background in the opening paragraph(s), you may tie it to the
culmination of your spiritual search, when you realized that Amma was your
Guru or your spiritual mother or who you had been searching for all your life,
and write about it at that point.
|
- Consider writing about the
first darshan only if this might make a complete story
in itself. This may be the case if you met Amma and
immediately knew, beyond a shadow of doubt, that She was the one for
you.
|
- Consider using sub-headings
if your story includes many subsequent darshans and a relatively
longer description of your journey with Amma over the years.
|
- Consider writing a joint story
with other members of your family (or friends) who met Amma at the
same time as you and/or have shared your journey with Amma.
|
- Actively talk to the reader in
the story. Use sentences like, "let me tell you...,"
"would you believe it?" etc.
|
- Or, ignore all these suggestions and just write from your heart :)
